Sveti Vlas |
The town of Sveti Vlas (3 000 residents) is located on the shore of the Black Sea and in the suburbs of the southern slopes of East Stara Planina mountain. The village is located in close proximity to: Burgas – 40 km., Nessebar – 8 km., Sunny Beach – 4 km., Paradise Beach – 1,5 km., Elenite – 2 km. Sveti Vlas was initially established in the second century as a Thracian settlement with the name Larissa, in the 14 century it changes the name to Sveti Vlas (Saint Vlas) – stock-breeder, healer and patron of the traders. In the years of Ottoman Rule were known several names of the village all connected with the monasteries around the village. The Turks called it Kyuchyuk, monastery, while in the register it is recorded as the Monastery village. The perfect combination – of mountain and sea, turn Sveti Vlas in a settlement with unique climate favouring healing cimatic impact on lung deceases. The beaches are with total length of about 1,5 km. The main beaches are the central (from Sineva Hotel to the Sun Palace complex), the small (the camping site – from the Sun Palace complex to the Riviera complex) and the Beach of the New Marine – a yacht port (close to the Monastery complex). Sveti Vlas is the most outstanding sea resprt of the yacht owners at the Southern Black Sea. Following the trend of the most luxurious resorts at the Mediterranean in 2007 was opened the most modern port for yachts in Bulgaria, with the best bars and restaurants, the most modern night clubs, the most luxurious hotels and pedestrian lanes. Sveti Vlas is at the top of the list of preferred destinations for spending the summer holidays for the representatives of the most wealthy class in Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries, and the resort develops with each successive year, offering more comforts and facilities. The region were the village is located is the largest tourist zone in Bulgaria. Practically, it is the non-acknowledged Bulgarian Riviera, formed by Aheloy, Ravda, Sunny Beach, Zora, the Sanatoruim (between Sveti Vlas and Zora), Intzaraki, Sveti Vlas, Paradise Beach (Robinson) and Elenite. In the near future it is expected that this large and remarkable tourist zone will reach the Emine Cape, which is located 5 km. away from Sveti Vlas. |
